In the last few decades, we have seen the introduction of a range of different types of discreet orthodontic braces.
Not only will you improve the appearance of your smile, but you will enjoy better dental health for the futurel so speak to our orthodontist Hampshire and together you can choose the best type of braces for you.
Fixed braces
Our orthodontist Hampshire will be able to assess which type of braces are most suitable for your orthodontic needs. If you have severely crooked or wonky teeth, then our orthodontist Hampshire can recommend fixed braces for you. These consist of brackets and wires that exert pressure on your teeth to create a neatly aligned smile. You can choose from traditional braces, clear braces as a discrete alternative, or lingual braces for even greater discretion.
Clear aligners
If you have mild or moderately crooked teeth, then you can find out about clear aligners. Currently, clear aligner systems are the most popular choice for teeth straightening amongst adult patients. This is because they work as an excellent alternative to traditional braces, using clear thermoplastic aligners to straighten your teeth rather than metal wires and brackets. They are significantly more discrete, in addition to being more comfortable in the mouth. They are removable which means they are more convenient than fixed braces. However, fixed braces apply constant pressure to your teeth whilst clear aligners systems will only work whilst they are in your mouth so you have to remember to wear them correctly.
At Winchester orthodontics we offer two types of clear aligners. Invisalign is the most popular clear aligners system. It has been used for more than 20 years and has helped correct 14 million smiles across the world. A series of aligners are designed using the latest in digital dental technology to help move your teeth into a neatly aligned formation. The number of aligners that you need varies from patient to patient. Each of these aligners are worn for approximately two weeks at a time and then you move onto the next aligner in the series until you have completed the set. Within approximately a year you should be able to correct the alignment of your teeth with Invisalign.
We are also able to offer you a new clear aligner system called Spark aligners. These work in a similar way to Invisalign however the aligners are designed to be even more clear than Invisalign so that they are invisible in your mouth. Invisalign is made from a plastic known as SmartTrack whilst Spark uses a plastic known as TruGen which is said to be more comfortable and gentle on the gums. Both are highly effective at teeth straightening although Invisalign is more tried and tested.
The final decision lies with you but our orthodontist will offer their expertise throughout the process, helping you to choose the right braces to straighten your teeth.
