Braces to suit you with our orthodontist

If you are thinking about straightening your teeth then you need to speak to our orthodontist Hampshire here at Winchester Orthodontics and find out about the many different options that are available for you. Our orthodontist Hampshire can offer you braces that are appropriate for your individual dental requirements, your personal preferences and to suit your budget. We have extensive experience in teeth straightening and have helped correct more than 6000 smiles using our variety of orthodontic braces and appliances. Our orthodontist Hampshire will assess the misalignment issues of your teeth and let you know what the best options are for improving your teeth and smile.

To begin with, if you want to straighten your teeth it is important that your teeth are clean and healthy. We will carry out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums to identify any underlying dental health complications. These will be treated before we begin to straighten your teeth for optimal results and to prevent any complications. We will also recommend that you have your teeth professionally cleaned before you begin wearing any type of braces to prevent tooth decay or gum disease developing during the procedure. We also recommend regular visits to the dentist and hygienist during the procedure to maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout.

Different types of braces

Here at Winchester Orthodontics, our orthodontist can offer you fixed braces or removable dental appliances. The type of brace that is most suitable for you depends on how crooked or wonky your teeth are to begin with. If your teeth are severely crooked, wonky, overcrowded or overlapping then we will recommend fixed braces that apply constant pressure to the teeth to create a neatly aligned smile that will last for the rest of your life. You will be pleased to know that there are different types of fixed braces too, as we are well aware that adult patients are reluctant to wear fixed braces because they are usually highly visible and attract attention to the mouth. We can tailor your braces to suit your personal preferences.

We can offer you ceramic braces where the brackets are either clear or designed to match the colour of your teeth so that they are less visible. You can have a translucent wire rather than a metal wire connecting the brackets so that again it is less visible in the mouth.

Some patients require fixed braces, but are looking for further discretion and in this case we can offer lingual braces that work in the same way as traditional braces, however the components are fixed to the inner surface of your teeth so that they cannot be seen when your teeth are closed. They are also highly effective at teeth straightening, similar to traditional braces, but they can be more expensive and we will discuss your budget and payment plans that may be available for you.

Fixed braces take an average of 12 to 24 months to straighten your teeth and by doing so improve the appearance of your smile, but also help significantly improve your dental health and prevent the formation of cavities, tooth decay and gum disease in the future. Speak to us at Winchester Orthodontics sooner rather than later and enjoy a happy and healthy smile very soon.
