Straighter teeth without the train track look

Teeth straightening is often thought of as something for children and teenagers alone. However the benefits of straighter teeth can be enjoyed at any age. Perhaps you didn’t get the chance to have your teeth straightened as a child, or perhaps you did and they’ve become crooked again over the years. Whichever the case, Winchester Orthodontics can help you achieve a healthier smile with the skills and experience of our orthodontist in Hampshire.

An orthodontist is a dentist with additional training on how to specifically address misalignments of the teeth and jaws. Today this does not have to mean wearing unsightly, cumbersome fixed metal braces. Here are just 2 alternative options you can explore when you come in to see our Hampshire orthodontist.

Invisalign

Often misspelled Invisaline, this innovative teeth straightening treatment doesn’t use metal wires or brackets. Instead it comprises a series of clear plastic aligners that are custom-made to snugly fit over your teeth. Each aligner is worn for about 2 weeks, before you more onto the next in the series. Their clear appearance and slim design means hardly anyone will even notice you are undergoing treatment. What’s more, they are removable, so you can take them off when you eat, floss, and brush. However to ensure your treatment is effective and proceeds according to schedule, it is important that you wear your aligners for at least 20–22 hours a day.

Lingual braces

These fixed metal braces are not like the ones used decades ago. They are attached to the back surfaces of your teeth, where they are hidden from view. They can handle more severe cases of crowding and misalignment, which Invisalign may not always be able to. Every bracket is custom-made to fit against each individual tooth, making them more expensive than traditional fixed metal braces. However for professional adults, this can be a worthwhile investment to ensure a discreet treatment.

When you visit out friendly practice, our Hampshire orthodontist will help you decide which of our treatments is right for you. Get in touch with us today to arrange a consultation and begin your journey to a healthier smile with straighter teeth.
