Straighter teeth with our orthodontist

It is a common wish that people have to pursue straightening their teeth, many having heard of Invisalign (often misspelt Invisaline). If that is something that you can relate to, then it wouldn’t be surprising if you would like to know more about Invisalign and what it entails. It could be that you are interested in finding out more about this process because you have heard good things about it from a friend or family member. Furthermore you may be looking for an orthodontist Hampshire who offers this form of treatment. Here at Winchester Orthodontics we would be delighted to address any questions you may have.

So, what is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a method of straightening (realigning) the teeth using consecutive invisible braces. Each transparent brace is slightly different from the previous one, helping the patient’s teeth to move steadily to a new position. These subtle braces can be removed (in a similar way to a sports mouth guard) giving the patient freedom to eat and drink as they wish, and also to maintain good routines for promoting oral hygiene.

What does the Invisalign process look like?

The process of looking into Invisalign as a form of treatment starts off the same for everyone. This is because the patient will need to have a consultation with an appropriately qualified dentist to discuss whether this is a suitable treatment for their individual needs. This also presents you with an opportunity to voice any queries you may have. Once this has taken place, you can then expect our orthodontist Hampshire to use 3D scanning technology as well as examining your teeth and mouth to create a treatment plan personalised to you and your needs. When your treatment plan is in place, we recommend regular visits with us at Winchester Orthodontics to check up on the progress your teeth are making, and to answer any additional questions.

Why choose Invisalign braces?

There are many advantages to Invisalign. It is a predictable treatment to follow as it is planned in advance. The clear braces are custom made, helping them to fit snugly and securely, but with minimal risk of rubbing against the gums, promoting comfort during the process. Because they are transparent aligners, they are unlikely to be noticeable to others which may reduce self-consciousness in your smile. Due to the use of the scanning technology our orthodontist Hampshire will be able to show you a predicted end result for your teeth, giving you the chance to see the difference which can be made to your teeth ahead of time. There are many different cases that can be treated through the use of Invisalign clear aligners including overbite and crossbite as well as crowded or crooked teeth. Having straighter teeth is proven to help maintain cleanliness and oral hygiene as it can be easier to reach places which previously were not accessible.

How long does an Invisalign plan take?

As with many things, this really varies from person to person. It is very dependent on how your teeth are to begin with, and what your end goal for your teeth looks like. During your appointments with our orthodontist Hampshire they will be able to give you an appropriate estimate for your personal treatment plan. In general, the process can take between 6 to 24 months (subject to your unique needs).
