Forget all you know about teeth straightening

If you think that the only way to straighten your teeth is with metal braces, you are mistaken. Dental technology is constantly evolving and nowadays there are more options available than ever. And the most popular of them is Invisalign – an innovative technique that helps move your teeth into their correct position with the aid of transparent, removable aligners. Dr Suzette Mulder, our orthodontist in Hampshire, can advise you on whether it’s a suitable treatment for you.

If you are thinking about having treatment with Invisaline (as it is sometimes erroneously spelled), we are here to help at Winchester Orthodontics. We customise the procedure for each patient, as we take into consideration your age and the health of your teeth and gums. A consultation appointment with our Hampshire orthodontist will give us the necessary information.

What is Invisalign?

Since its first appearance in cosmetic dentistry in the 1990s, Invisalign created a sensation and still remains one of the most popular teeth straightening methods among adults. This simple but innovative treatment relies on a series of transparent, removable aligners that help move your teeth into their prescribed position over time. Treatment time is different for each patient, however, all patients have to go through a series of aligners, which are substituted every 7-10 days. During this period, teeth gradually move to their optimal position.

Smile freely

Invisalign has many benefits and the most important of them is the fact that it very discreet. Patients can keep smiling without worrying about metal brackets or wires. Moreover, Invisalign aligners are removable and can be taken out for meals and cleaning. However, the aligners need to be on the teeth for at least 22 hours per day for the treatment to be effective. Last but not least, Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than regular braces and are less likely to hurt the inside of your mouth.
