Do I need braces?

Braces are a common form of treatment and are widely used on thousands of patients every year to correct the arrangement of the teeth. Teeth that are misaligned can be unsightly, but also carry a series of unseen dangers. If the teeth do not bite together correctly, then they can become misaligned, and also eroded in areas where the teeth are in more contact than they should be. If you are looking for an orthodontist in Hampshire who can fix your crooked teeth, then do not hesitate to give us a call. At Winchester Orthodontics, we believe that we can fix any smile, no matter how crooked the teeth are, and will work alongside the patient to find a smile that is best for them.

What causes crooked teeth?

It is largely unknown as to what exactly causes crooked teeth in every case, as it is unknown as to why exactly teeth begin to erupt. Teeth are generally crooked because there are too many teeth in a small space, and they end up distorting as they grow. This can be due to too many teeth, or down to having a jaw that is too small, and the teeth are pushing against each other. There can also be problems with the jaw too, and you may have an overbite, when the upper jaw protrudes over the bottom one, or vice versa with an underbite. This is where orthodontics are extremely important, and if you are in need of an orthodontist in Hampshire, then do not hesitate to contact us, and to book a consultation at our practice.

Do I have to get fixed braces?

If you are a teenager and your teeth are crooked, then it is likely that you will need to get fixed braces. This is because your teeth are still developing, so any other treatment such as Invisalign can be disrupted by your moving teeth. Fixed braces are extremely effective however and remain one of the quickest and most effective ways to correct teeth, sometimes in as little as six months.

Invisalign

Invisalign, (which is often mis-spelt as Invisaline), are an excellent form of clear braces, available for adults. We understand that many people may be averse to fixed braces, as they are extremely visible and noticeable, so it may be uncomfortable for some adults to openly wear the braces. Fixed braces can carry a stigma, so therefore many professional adults may be concerned about getting this kind of treatment done.

This is where Invisalign comes in and offers a fantastic alternative to correcting teeth. It can also make extremely acute adjustments, so if your teeth are only slightly crooked then don’t worry, Invisalign will be able to make the adjustment. Invisalign braces are also fully removable, so you won't need to make any sacrifices to your eating or drinking habits, as you can simply remove your braces before eating.

If you are searching for an orthodontist in Hampshire, then do not hesitate to contact us and ask about Invisalign.
