What are Invisalign retainers?
Invisalign is a massively popular alternative orthodontic treatment which aims to comfortably and discretely align a patient's teeth - without bonding or binding anything to them.
Rather than achieve dental alignment through brackets and tension wires, the Invisalign system consists entirely of a removable plastic dental retainer. This retainer is constructed from a specialised dental plastic which is thin and transparent.
Each Invisalign retainer that we provide our patients with here at Winchester Orthodontics is entirely unique to the patient who is receiving it. This is because it is created from a mould or impression of the patient's teeth. That way it fits perfectly when worn over their teeth, and - as Invisalign retainers are see-through - it becomes almost totally invisible when worn.
Inside every Invisalign retainer there are pressure points that force the teeth which have been identified as crooked into their proper space. This is generally found to be more comfortable than traditional fixed braces.
