Achieve a straight smile invisibly with Invisalign in Hampshire

When it comes to orthodontic treatment, some adult patients may be hesitant about wearing traditional metal braces to correct their smile. Achieving straighter teeth may not be worth the not-so-subtle appearance of metal wires and brackets in the mouth. If you fall into this category, you might be happy to hear that you can now straighten your teeth without compromising your appearance and lifestyle with Invisalign.

At Winchester Orthodontics, we utilise Invisalign to straighten our patient’s teeth without using any metal at all. During your consultation, our experienced orthodontist in Hampshire will assess your oral health and determine whether Invisalign is the best treatment solution for your individual situation. While Invisalign can help realign moderately crooked and misaligned teeth as well as bite problems, it may not be ideal for severely misaligned teeth and serious jaw problems.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign consists of a series of transparent, removable, plastic aligners, which are custom-made to specifically fit the shape of your teeth. After taking measurements and creating 3D models of your teeth, your orthodontist in Hampshire will create a series of aligners to be worn throughout the straightening treatment. More specifically, as your teeth get progressively straighter, you will move from one set of aligners to the next.

Your orthodontist in Hampshire will recommend wearing your aligners at least 22 hours per day for effective results for about 2 weeks at a time. To ensure you receive the most effective treatment, you should only remove your aligners while eating, drinking, brushing and flossing your teeth. This does however offer you greater flexibility than with fixed metal braces.

Invisalign aligners work by pushing your teeth into a straighter position, moving them almost a quarter of a millimetre with each new aligner. As everyone’s teeth are different, Invisalign treatment times can vary greatly depending on how much movement needs to occur in order to straighten your teeth. Some people see results with several months of treatment, while others may have to wait longer. Your orthodontist in Hampshire will create a treatment plan that’s unique to your specific needs to ensure the best results possible.
