When you come to Winchester Orthodontics to get your teeth straightened, we can offer you a wide choice of ways to get your teeth in line.
Orthodontics has advanced considerably with the advent of new materials and techniques for straightening teeth. These advances mean that an orthodontist in Hampshire no longer needs to use a hammer to crack a nut, so to speak.
This used to be the case when only heavy-duty metal braces were available and had to be used no matter how mild the alignment issues. Now the use of such braces by a Hampshire orthodontist is confined to patients who have serious bite issues that need to be corrected.
Most patients who come to see our orthodontist in Hampshire are looking to resolve overcrowding, crooked teeth, or teeth that have not come through properly. Most of these situations can be effectively solved with one or more of the many systems available at our practice. Here are just a few of your options.
Lingual braces
These braces use brackets and wires but are hidden from general view because they are fixed to the back of the teeth, rather than the front. The braces are made from detailed impressions of your teeth so that the brackets comfortably fit the contours of the backs of your teeth.
Damon Clear Braces
These braces work like traditional bracket and wire braces, being fitted to the front of the teeth. However the brackets and wires are transparent. Unlike some other systems, Damon Clear Braces work on all the teeth. As well as being smaller in design, the brackets are transparent and the wires are tooth-coloured, making them hard to see. As the braces are fixed to the teeth, they deliver fast and accurate results.
Invisalign clear aligners
This teeth straightening system uses aligners, which are rather like mouth guards, that fit snugly over the teeth.Pressure created by the rigid plastic they are made from nudges the teeth along. At less than half a millimetre thick and completely transparent, Invisalign aligners are almost invisible. They can also be removed for eating, drinking and cleaning.
